HOW CANCELLED WORKS
A real-time index of observed online backlash.
Cancelled measures the intensity and momentum of public online backlash around prominent people, creators, and brands. It is designed to describe changing public attention—not to declare anyone guilty, cancelled, or beyond context.
Our proprietary signal model
The Cancelled Index combines four measured inputs: attention, negative attention, conversation volume, and momentum. Each signal is assessed against its recent baseline to identify unusually fast-moving backlash. Scores can rise or fall as reporting develops, public conversation changes, and credible context becomes available.
Context and sourcing
Every profile includes an explanatory summary, a time-stamped sequence of events, and source material. We use neutral language and aim to distinguish verifiable reporting from the speed of online reaction.
